Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the switching unit and online installations by providing the switching units in parallel which have independently switching connection function. CONSTITUTION:The base switching units 10 (similarly to 20, 30) accommodates a plurality of input highways 11, 12, 51 and the like in which a number of channels are time divided and multiplexed and a plurality of output highways 13, 14, 56 and the like and has a time division switching function which inserts a single of an arbitrary channel time slot on an arbitrary input highway into an arbitrary time slot on an arbitrary output highway. 11, 12, 13, 14 and the like are connected to input and output wiring. A switch 50 is provided between the units. The unit accommodates therein the output highways 56, 57 and the like from the respective units and the input highways 51, 52 and the like from the respective units and has a function for relaying the signal from the arbitrary unit to the arbitrary unit.
