Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the sealing-up property, vibration resistance and load carrying capacity of a mechnical seal, by coupling the inner and outer cylinders of an annular packing to each other through a diaphragm part, providing the inner and outer cylinders with flange parts opposite the coupled sides of the cylinders, fitting the inner and outer cylinders with push rings and filling rubber in the packing.

CONSTITUTION: The outer and inner cylinders 14, 15 of the annular packing 7 are coupled to each other through the diaphragm part 16. The outer cylinder 14 extends inward opposite its coupled side so that a flange part 17 is formed. The inner cylinder 15 extends outward opposite its coupled side so that another flange part 18 is formed. The faces 23 of both the flange parts are set in tight contact with each other. A push ring 19 is fitted in the outer cylinder 14 to set the outside surface of the outer cylinder in pressure contact with the inside surface of a seal ring 6. Another push ring 21 is fitted on the outside surface of the inner cylinder 15 to set the inside surface of the inner cylinder in pressure contact with the outside cylindrical surface 22 of a shaft 3 to be sealed up. The rubber 25 is filled in a chamber 24 to raise the performance of the packing 7.
