Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the sealing-up property and vibration resistance of a mechanical seal and the moving tolerance of a shaft, by coupling the inner and outer cylinders of an annular packing to each other through a diaphragm part, providing flange parts which are in tight contact with each other and located opposite the diaphragm part, and fitting push rings on the shaft and the mechanical seal ring to expand the mechanical seal.

CONSTITUTION: The outer and inner cylinders 14, 15 of the packing 7 are coupled to each other by the diaphragm part 16. The outer cylinder 14 extends inward opposite its coupled side so that a flange part 17 is formed. The inner cylinder 15 extends outward opposite its coupled side so that another flange part 18 is formed. The faces 23 of both the flange parts are set in tight contact with each other. A push ring 19 is fitted in the outer cylinder 14 to set the outside surface of the outer cylinder in pressure contact with the inside surface 20 of the seal ring 6. Another push ring 21 is fitted on the outside surface of the inner cylinder 15 to set the inside surface of the inner cylinder in pressure contact with the outside cylindrical surface 22 of the shaft 3 to be sealed up.
