Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain superior color sensitization ability to blue light, and not to lower the maximal density without raising the minimal density, by combining specified sensitizing dyes.
CONSTITUTION: A direct positive type silver halide photographic emulsion contains a sensitizing dye represented by general formula I in which Z1 and Z2 are each an atomic group needed to form a benzoxazole, benzothiazole, benzoselenazole, naphthoxazole, naphthothiazole, naphthoselenazole, pyridine, or quinoline ring; R1 and R2 are alkyl, sulfoalkyl, or carboxyalkyl; X1 - is an anion; and n is O or 1, and another sensitizing dye represented by general formula II in which Z3 is as Z1; Z4 is an atomic group needed to form a rhodanine, 2-thiooxazolidine-2,4-dione, or 2-thioselenazolidine-2,4-dione necleus; and R3 and R4 are alkyl, sulfoalkyl, or carboxyalkyl.
