Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal printer which does not require use of special recording paper and does not cause any discoloration to the paper after recording because of being equipped with a thermal head and a device capable of selecting driving time of the thermal head according to a recording body. CONSTITUTION:A groove 20 is provided on a part of a holding member 12 consisting of a heat-conducting substance, such as aluminum, and base body 22, such as ceramic, etc., equipped with a thermal head 21 is fixed into the groove 20 with an adhesive, etc. The thermal head 21 is driven by AND gates AG7 and AG8 opened and closed by signals of switches SW1-SW3 through OR gate 4 operated by signals T1-T2 and also through AND gate AG9 opened and closed by Print Command Signal P. The signal T1 has a 8m s wide signal wave when printing a heat-sensing paper and the signal T2 has a 4m s wide signal wave when transcribing (or transferring) ink if a printing tape to the recording media.
