Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an image to be recorded even on a recording medium of a curved surface state, by providing a recording head by which motion of an apparatus body on the recording medium is detected and which is driven according to an image signal correspondingly to the motion, and a means which follows according to a surface curvature of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:When an apparatus body A is put fixedly on a recording medium P of a curved surface state like a note or the like while pushing a record start switch 17 on outer peripheral surface of a detection roller 2 comes in contact with the recording medium P, and a gap between a nozzle of a recording head C and a surface of the recording medium is kept at a fixed value. When the apparatus body is manually moved, the detection roller 2 which has touched the recording medium P is rotated, and rotary amount and rotary speed thereof are detected with an encode plate 4 and a photosensor 5. Recording information stored in RAM is read according to the detection results, and the recording head C is driven according to said information. Therefore, even through the surface of the recording medium P is of a curved surface state, three point contact can be always performed with the detection roller 3 and a following roller 9, and a stabilized motion state can be maintained.
