Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the voltage-increase rate to be applied to circuit elements, by sensing an overcurrent due to the commutation failure of an inverter, and triggering a switching element of an inverter by the sensed signal, thereby bypassing the defective current to a capacitor which is in series with the switching element.
CONSTITUTION: A commutation failure of an inverter is sensed by an overcurrent sensor 12, which in turn sends out an OFF signal (i.e. a sensed signal) to a gate circuit of an element 1a of an inverter circuit 1 and triggers a thyristor 10 that is a switching element. The defective current is bypassed to a capacitor 11 which is connected to the thyristor 10 in series, therby the voltage-increase rate (dVAK/dt) which is applied to the elements of the inverter 1 can be reduced.
