Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect any overcurrent at the time of load short-circuiting or failure in commutation, and, at the same time, to cause an overcurrent only to flow to a quick acting fuse, thereby to accelerate melting of said quick-acting fuse so that the apparent melting characteristic of the quick acting fuse can be freely selected.
CONSTITUTION: Any abnormality in a load 4 or inverter action is detected by a detector 32, a trigger signal is generated in a gate trigger circuit 31, and a thyristor 13 is turned off. When the thyristor 13 is turned off, the charging load of the capacitor 19 is discharged through the quick acting fuse 3, and a surge current flowing through the quick acting fuse 3 is increased to accelerate the melting of the quick- acting fuse 3.
