Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a high-grade coke having extremely low thermal expansion coefficient, by calcining green coke prepared by delayed coking process and sieved to remove particles having diameters smaller than a specific value.
CONSTITUTION: Green coke prepared by delayed coking process is sieved to obtain a particle size distribution having a minimum diameter of about 4.76 mm, pref. about 25.4 mm. and calcined. A high density, low thermal expansion coke which can be used as a raw material of graphite electrodes, is obtained.
