Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to quantitize dihydroxyacetone by using a preset oxidizing enzyme.
CONSTITUTION: Bacteria belonging to Penicillium group and having capability of producing dihydroxyacetone oxidase are cultivated in a suitable culture medium so that dihydroxyacetone oxidase is sampled from the crashed liquid of the bacteria. In the presence of oxygen, that enzyme is reacted with the dihydroxyacetone, which is introduced through the oxidization of glycerol, so that the oxygen consumption of the system is measured. In an alternative, the products H2O2 or glycerosone are quantitized. Thus, the clycerol is oxidized with the dihydroxyacetone with the use of clycerol dehydrogenase and further with the dihydroxyacetone oxidase so that the glycerol can be quantitized.
