Abstract

PURPOSE:To splice optical fiber cables easily and at high precision, by providing a good magnetically permeable part at the end of optical fiber, and keeping the optical fiber automatically in the optimum position by means of the magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic powder such as ferrite is adhered to end face parts 1 of an optical fiver 2 where protective coating is removed for splicing, and good magnetically permeable parts 3 are formed. When a magnetic field of a magnet 4 is applied to these good magnetically permeable parts 3, the eccentricity of the fiber 2 is automatically corrected so that the magnetic resistance may be small, and the fiber 2 is held in the optimum position where axial centers coincide. In this state, the end parts 3 are adhered togerther with adhesive.
