Abstract
PURPOSE:To continuously perform adjustment of the rate of attenuation by providing a curved reflecting mirror turnably about a reflecting surface and so disposing input and output optical fibers that their optical axes cross with the reflecting surface as a center. CONSTITUTION:A curved reflecting mirror 3 is provided turnably about a reflecting surface A and optical fibers 1, 2 of input and output are so disposed and fixed that their optical axes cross at the center A of the reflecting surface. When the reflecting mirror 3 is in the solid line position, the exit light from the optical fiber 1 is reflected by the reflecting mirror 3 and is entered to the optical fiber 2. The light diverged to the optical axis of the optical fiber 1 and entered to the reflecting mirror 3 results in that it is converged and entered to the optical fiber 2 because the reflecting mirror 3 has the reflecting surface of the curved face. Next, when the mirror is turned to the dotted line position, the exit light along the optical axis from the optical fiber 1 is entered to the optical fiber 2 but the diverged light is not entered to the optical fiber 2. Namely, the exit light is attenuated, hence, the rate of attenuation may be made continuously adjustable.
