Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize the loss in directional couplig among three pieces of optical fibers by using a total reflecting mirror provided with a passage part for light. CONSTITUTION:The exit light from an optical fiber 1 is made into parallel beams of light by a rod lens 4, and the greater part thereof is reflected by a total reflecting mirror 10, is made incident to a rod lens 5, and is conducted to an optical fiber 2. Part of the light is made incident to the rod lens 9 attached to an optical fiber 8 through the passage part for light provided to the mirror 10 and makes a loss. The exit light from the fiber 8 is made into parallel beams of light by the rod lens 9 of a small aperture, and the whole thereof passes through the passage part for light provided to the mirror 10 and is made incident to the fiber 1 through the rod lens 4.
