Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible continuous insertion without giving any stress to optical fibers by using such an automatic inserting machine which is so arranged as to give helical slack to optical fibers at the time of inserting the optical fibers to the triangle frames in the optical fiber cable.
CONSTITUTION: Tension members 2 of star type in section having radial leg pieces 1 are supplied from supply reels 2R, optical fibers 4 from supply reels 4R and further triangule frames 3 from supply reels 3R, respectively and the respective triangular frames 3 and the optical fibers corresponding to these are combined as specified by the automatic inserting machine 7 installed before a twist port 6. The assembly is then applied with cross winding by a cross winding machine 8. The automatic inserting machine 7 consists of a cylindrical part 12 provided with a through-hole 15, a die 11 having a triangular protruding piece 13 protruding in the radial direction, a rotary rod 14 which is inserted into the through hole 15 and whose protruding part 13 from the other end is made conical and a spiral groove 16 whose section is arc form.
