Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the displacement in molten glass level by a noncontact system with accuracy by optically detecting the distance between a marked real image set over the surface of molten glass in a melting furnace and its reflected image.
CONSTITUTION: ITV camera 6 is set at viewing window 5 of furnace wall 3 to observe 2 of molten glass and wall 3. Distance L between real image 7 of a joint of fire brick set as a mark appearing on the frame of camera 6 and reflected image 8 formed by reflection of the mark from glass surface 2 depends upon a change in glass level. A signal of this displacement is inputted into an operation circuit, where a glass level signal is obtd. using a standard glass level value and a standard joint distance value. By this method the reliability of detection is enhanced.
