Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the subject method comprising the steps of automatically detecting a fixed point selected as desired on a wide-range plane in a shifting device capable of shifting in parallel on the plane, and automatically stopping said shifting device on the fixed point.
CONSTITUTION: A television camera is mounted on a shifting device capable of shifting in parallel with respect to a plane, and a point marker placed on a desired fixed point on the plane is taken by the television camera. Only the picture image at the fixed point is detected from said picture image and is indicated in a monitor and the position of the fixed point on the picture image is represented as point coordinate. By the shifting command based on the coordinate value signal the operation of the driving part is controlled, and the shifting device is shifted so that the fixed point picture approaches the center of the video picture of the television camera. Thereafter, the fixed point picture image is enlarged to detect the coordinate value of the central point of the fixed point picture image, and the above described driving part is controlled by a slight shifting command based on the output signal thereby to shift the central point of the fixed point picture image to the center of the picture.
