Abstract
PURPOSE: To accurately detect an abnormal part without making complication around a pipe, by using a movable infrared camera unit.
CONSTITUTION: A rail 17 is laid at a prescribed distance from a temperature retainer 12 coated on a pipe 11 for a nuclear reactor. An infrared camera unit 15 connected to a display unit 19 and a computer 20 is hung with a moving mechanism from the rail. The camera unit is moved in the axial direction of the pipe 11 by the moving mechanism 16 and the rail to detect infrared rays emitted from the surface of the temperature retainer 12. The detected rays are converted into a video signal to inicate a thermal image on the display unit 19. The computer 20 compares the video signal with a previously stored refrence condition for the surface of the temperature retainer. This results in accurately detecting the abnotmal part of the temperature retainer 12 without providing numerous signal lines around the pipe 11 as in a case that teermocouples are used.
