Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a pollution-free, higher Btu, and move economical charcoal of improved forming properties, capable of establishing a mass-production system, by incorporating a paper sludge with a coffee crust and specific other wastes.
CONSTITUTION: A paper sludge which is one of industrial wastes and containing ≤ 50wt.% of water, is incorporated with a coffee crust and at least one sort of waste selected from an almond crust, a mandarin orange crust, a walnut crust, and a bean jam waste, followed by carrying out forming operation to perform dry distillation at 300W600°C, thus obtaining the objective high-Btu charcoal with greater input (leading to greater output) and good formability. Furthermore, said incorporation process prevents generation of a disagreeable odor inherent in the paper sludge; therefore, the charcoal obtained way be used as a fuel for various fields such as home-heating, cooking, etc.
