Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve coil compacting ratio by controlling rotational speed of pinch roll in consideration of centrifugal force acting to bar material to be coiled, according to predetermined amplitude and cycle and absorbing loop produced by that control in a looper.
CONSTITUTION: Bar material 20, after exitting rolls 15 on a rolling stand, is sent from a guide pipe 17 through loopers 18, 18 and pinch rolls 16 to a reel 10 to be wound into a laminated coil. The rotational frequency NR of the reel 10 coincides with the speed V of the bar material at the position of roll 15. While the rotational speed of the pinch roll 16 varies cyclically, the average rotational speed Np is matched with the speed V of the bar material and the varying cycle T is obtained from equation (III). The amplitude A is obtained from equation (IV) by multiplying a factor k which corrects the variation due to the centrifugal force acting to the bar material. These computation is carried out by apparatus 44, 45 to control the rotational frequency of the pinch roll 16 by a speed control 52 for a motor 51.
