Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide high light emitting and converting efficiency and superior resolving power of a light intensifier by employing alkali halide fluorescent material at an input fluorescent membrane formed on an optical fiber plate to thereby form it in an island having fine projections on the radiant ray incident surface.
CONSTITUTION: An input fluorescent membrane 9 formed on an optical fiber plate 10 is formed in an island having infinitesimal projecions 13 on the radiant ray incident surface with alkali halide fluorescent material. A metallic net of approx. 1,000 mesh is disposed at interval of approx. 30μm on a substrate 10 formed, for example, of an optical fiber plate, and CsI/Na is evaporated thereon to thereby form a fluorescent membrane 11 of infinitesimal islands of approx. 25μm. An aluminum membrane 12 is formed on the outer surface of the membrane 11, and Sb-Cs photoelectric surface 4 is formed on the other surface of the substrate 10. This substrate thus formed is airtightly sealed in one end of a glass enclosure 2 as an input window 3 of an X-ray fluorescent multiplier tube 1. Thus, it can be formed so that light emitted upon excitation of an X-ray reaches the photoelectric surface 4 without spreading to thereby provide superior resolving power and light emitting and converting efficiency.
