Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title fibers of high quality, having improved selective permeability, strength, and handleability, with high productivity, by making fibers from a cellulose ester solution in an organic solvent containing an inorganic metal salt under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A spinning solution comprising 0.2W15wt% of an inorganic metal salt in an organic solvent is extruded through an outer annular slit of a double pipe and so is a liquid as a core component through the inner pipe simultaneously. The extruded solution is coagulated in a coagulation bath to form hollow fibers, which are then drawn in water at 20W80°C and hydrolyzed in an aqueous caustic alkali to give hollow regenerated cellulose fibers having improved selective permeability, strength, and roundness and the uniform cross-sectional shape usable for dialusis and ultrafiltration, free from voids in the wall membranes stably with high productivity.
