PURPOSE:To make the promotion of simplification and stiffness for manufacture of cylinder block, by means of uniting, in the method of bolt tightening and the like, the inside substance, with cylinder portion and crankshaft bearing portion made into one unit, and the outside substance, made of aluminum alloys. CONSTITUTION:An inside substance 10 is constructed by casting to mold in one unit a crankshaft bearing portion 15, comprising a cylinder part 11, in which a piston, not shown in the drawing, makes a sliding motion, and a half-divided round- holed bearing-concaved part 16, to which a crankshaft, not shown in the drawing, is inserted. To the outside of the above substance 10, is engaged an outside substance 40, made of aluminum alloys and constructed by the method of die casting. And said both substances 10 and 40 are united by using bolts 33, 43, to construct a cylinder block 50. And a concaved part 17, 42 is formed in athe periphery of the inside substance 10 and in the inner circumference of the outside substance 40, respectively. An engagement , when made between the above described substances, constructs a water jacket 51 by the both concaved parts 17, 42.
