Abstract

PURPOSE: To form good transfer images irrespective of ambient humidity and transfer paper moisture contents by detecting the resistance of transfer material and controlling transfer electric field.
CONSTITUTION: Surface resistance corresponding to the atmospheric humidity of the reansfer paper 6 being conveyed is detected by a surface resistance detecting part 16 by way of a pair of conductive and insulation-type rollers 13a, 13b. Further, the volume resistance corresponding to the moisture content of the transfer paper 6 is detected by a volume resistance detecting part 18 by way of a pair of conductive rollers 14a, 14b. According to the detection signals of these detecting parts 16, 18, the transfer voltage of a corona discharger 8 is controlled by a transfer voltage control part 21 and the optimum transfer electric field is applied to the photosensitive drum 1 where the sensible images by toner are formed, whereby the good images are transferred to the transfer materials of different ambient humidities and water contents.
