Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable eanble direct detection of charged part potential and non- charged part potential, by providing a potential detecting pattern, which is formed with charged part and non-charged part in the form of checker flag, in the non- image part of the charged body.
CONSTITUTION: Charged parts 1c . and non-charged parts 21 . and 22 . are provided in the form of checker flag in the non-image part 1b which is connected to an image part 1a of a rotating charged body 1. Latent images are formed on the charged parts 1c . according to the uniform charging by a corotron 5 and exposure, and along with the rotation of the charged body 1, alternating latent images are detected by a counter electrode 3 which composes a capacitor together with the charged body 1, and the electrode 3 generates displacement current which is proportional to the charged amount and difference of charged part 1a and non-charged part 1b and is also proportional to the frequency of the alternating latent images, without requiring complicated chopper or mechanical precision. Therefore, the potential in the non-charged part 1b and charged part 1a may be directly detected by an electrometer 4, and the feedback of the charging system may be conrolled, so that the contrast of the image can be effectively stabilized.
