Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the photographic lens to be adjusted to an approximate focus position even if the operations of focus detectors are inadequate by providing an auxiliary device which functions separately from the focus detector and operating this manually or automatically.
CONSTITUTION: A potentiometer 8 is provided on the outside cicrcumference of the lens-barrel 2 of a photographic lens L and its shaft 8c is turned by a pinion 12 through focussing. The distance detecting system is constituted by the focus detectors CC1, CC2 consisting of cylindrical lenses 14, 18. In the case of the state where the focus detection is not sufficiently guaranteed owing to the decrease in the luminance intensity of the subject, the decrease in supply voltage, etc., it is detected by the comparator CP3 and resistance R10 being state detectors and an auxiliary device CC4 being a pan focus detecting circuit is put in an operating state, based on the output whereof the photographic lens may be adjusted to an approximate focus position manufally or automatically.
