Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect and measure sutomatically anomaly such as a gap, slippage and corner folding of the track connection part while running a track detection and measuring wheel without a work dependent upon visual watching by providing a metal detection unit in the track detection and measuring wheel.
CONSTITUTION: Metal detection unit 15 is so fitted that unit 15 may be opposite to track running faces la and 1b at a fixed interval. Then, the relation to the gap between finger plates 2a and 2b is obtained experimentally from drop C, D, E and F of receiving signals at a time when the gap between finger plates 2a and 2b is detected, and a time required for passing through the gap between finger plates is calculated from the drop signal band of C, D, E and F, and this calculated time is multiplied by the speed obtained by a tachometer to obtain gap l2 between finger plates 2a and 2b. Thus, the size of the gap between track connection parts can be measured quantitatively and instantaneously only by running a detection and measuring wheel to perform measurement differently from visual watching.
