Abstract

PURPOSE: A cellulosic derivative is incorporated with a small amount of inorganic metal salt and spun into hollow fibers, drawn at specific conditions to produce hollow fibers that are void free, of uniform quality, high strength, and high permeselectivity in the use of dialysis and ultre filtration.
CONSTITUTION: To a solution of cellulosic derivatives, preferably cellulose acetate, especially cellulose diacetate, is added 0.2W15 wt% of an inorganic metal salt and the mixture is extruded along with a core material from doubled pipes, coagulated into hollow fibers, which are drawn in water at 10W90°C. The inorganic metal salt is at least one of chlorate, perchlorate, sulfate, phosphate and thio cyanate of a metal selected from alkali, alkaline earth metals, copper and zinc, or at least one selected from halides and phosphates of zinc, copper, iron. The solvent is preferably dioxane or dimethylacetamide. The core material is, e.g., fatty acid ester, alcohol or hydrocarbon of low solidifying property.
