Abstract

PURPOSE: The title undrawn continuous filament yarn capable of giving the fineness per filament ≤0.3de through orienting and drawing, having the fineness per filament and maximum draw ratio in a specific relation and specific ranges, obtained by the conventional melt spinning.
CONSTITUTION: An undrawn continuous thermoplastic polymer filament yarn having the fineness per filament D (denier) and the maximum draw ratio X (%) in the following relationship: 0.05≤100D/(X+100)<0.30, and 10≤X≤700. The yarn is manyfactured as follows: A polymer is melt spun through a spinneret having an output cross-sectional area ≤3.5×10-4cm2 of orifices and passed through an atmosphere at a distance, 1W3cm, from the spinneret, at a temperature of 200°C or below, and the filaments are collected at a distance, 10W250cm, from the spinneret. The ultra-fine filament yarn with a slight fluffing or denier unevenness, obtained by orienting and drawing, can be woven or knitted well by the ordinary weaving and knitting stages to give high-grade fabrics of little dyeing unevenness.
