Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a resin composition useful as wire coating material, pipe, sheet, etc. and having excellent tensile elongation properties, by compounding an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer with a powdery inorganic material treated with a titanate coupling agent.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 Parts by weight of a powdery inorganic material, e.g. aluminum hydroxide, etc., having an average particle size of preferably 0.05W10μ, is treated with 0.5W7 parts by weight of a titanate coupling agent I. (B) AN ethylene-α-olefin copolymer containing <50wt% of α-olefins, e.g. propylene, etc., and having a melt index of preferably 0.05W5 and an IR absorption coefficient at 770cm-1, expressed by the formula II (d is density; l is thickness; I0 and I are transmittance of the baseline and the sample respectively, of 5W15, is prepared. 100 Parts by weight of (B) is kneaded together with 80W250 parts by weight of (A) by a Banbury mixer, etc. to give the desired composition.
