Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a Cu-alloy in which graphite particles as a solid lubricant are dispersed uniformly by the procedure in which specific metals are added to molten Cu metal and then the molten Cu metal is well strieede, mixed with graphite particles, and then solidified under pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A molten Cu metal is mixed with at least one of Ni, V, Nb, Ta, Co, Hf, and Mn, and then the molten Cu alloy is further mixed with graphite particles of a graing size of 50 to 200 μm in a high-temoerature state heated to a temperature 20 to 100°C higher than the liquidus line of the molten Cu alloy and then solidified under pressure. Thus, a Cu-alloy having a structure in which graphite particles as a solid lubricant are dispersed uniformly due to the action of added metals to prevent the floatation of graphite particles to the surface. The graphite- dispersed Cu alloy is suitable for sliding and contacting elements such as bearings, gears, piston, cylinder, etc., for internal combustion engine, etc.
