Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an active material with a less reduction factor of capacity and excellent storage characteristic, by constructing a nickel active material with a drying made at specific temperature range, after oxidizing a nickel (I) hydroxide with ozone gas.
CONSTITUTION: After an oxidation of nickel (I) hydroxide powder by ozone gas, a drying is made at 60 to 150°C. For instance, with an ozone included gas made passing while stirring 80 mesh pass nickel hydroxide powder, a black colored nickel oxide is produced being dried for five hours at 80°C to obtain a nickel active material. In this way, with a water of by-product from the oxidation reaction removed, and an inactive nickel hydroxide, by a reaction with water during storage, eliminated, an active material can be provided with a less reduction factor of capacity and excellent storage characteristic.
