Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a mark measuring instrument which is low in reaction temperature, miniature and excellent in precision by changing carbon in a liquid sample into carbon dioxide through oxidation under specific conditions and then by integrating a signal equibalent to the amount of this carbon dioxide.
CONSTITUTION: Carbon is oxidized into CO2 by using catalyst-charged pipe 6 filled with 0.2W1% of Pt-Al2O3 (approximate 0.2W4mm in diameter), platinum meshes (50W100 meshes), or 0.2W1% of Pt-MnO2 (sintered at a temperature of approximate 900°C). Air 1 having passed through CO2 absorber 2 and quantitative supply unit 3 and sample 4 having passed through sample injector 5 are supplied into catalyst-charged pipe 6, where carbon in the sample is changed into CO2 by oxidation under conditions of 400W700°C in temperature and 5W60/minute in space rate. Then, the sample is passed through dehumidifier 7 and measured by analyzer 8; and a signal, linearized by linearizer 9, equivalent to CO2 is integrated by integrator 10 and displayed by recorder 11.
