Abstract
PURPOSE:To miniaturize the connector and make the connecting companions of optical fibers variable by fixing multicore optical fibers to plugs, coupling the plugs to themselves by means of sockets and making the plugs rotatable to the sockets at an equal angle. CONSTITUTION:The photo connector is so constituted as to accomplish coupling and connecting by means of two plugs 5.3, 5.4 and one socket 5.5. Positioning and fixing of the plug 5.3 and socket 5.5 in the circumferential direction simply necessitate providing a protruded hook 5.8 to the plug and providing grioves 5.9 for inserting the hook into the socket. Grooves 5.9 are required to be provided 5 pieces at an equal spacing assuming 72 deg. to the central axis of the sockets in the case of 5-core fiber cables 5.1, 5.2. Star-type fixing jig 5.7 having five V-grooves is used for fixing of the optical fibers 5.6 in the plug 5.3. The connecting companions of the optical fibers may be made variable by varying the fitting of the hooks of the plugs and the grooves of the sockets by 72 deg. and yet the miniature connector may be obtained.
