Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the number of rolling stands and pass times by employing the high screw-down rolling mill which makes use of pulling stress or pulling and pushing stress in place of the roughing mill groups of hot rolling equipment. CONSTITUTION:The slab 16 which is extracted from continuous casting equipment 1, has been heated in a heating furnace 4 and has gone through a scale breaker 5 is supplied to a high screw-down rolling mill 8 by the pushing device 6 provided when necessary. The trailing and leading ends of the preceding and succeeding slabs are bonded by the connecting device 7 between the device 6 and rolling mill 8. The rolling mill 8 is capable of rolling the slabs at the specially high draft with its rolls, and the pulling device 9 and pushing device 6 are operated by the pulling stress and pushing stress of 0.01 or over and up to 1.00 of the yield stress of the slab 16 of that time, thus the slab may be rolled at the drafts 20% or over and up to 100% through one pass. Next, the steel product is led into the finishing mill group 10 after going through the devices being connected after the above, wherein the rolling mills 8 and 10 are disposed tandem in proximity.
