Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a cathode sleeve from deforming and obtain a cathode structure having excellent characteristics by restricting oxidation weighting on the external wall surface of a cathode plate sleeve to a special range.
CONSTITUTION: Oxidation weighting is restricted within the range of 0.01W0.13 mg on the external wall surface of a nickel chrome alloy cathode plate sleeve in hydrogen atmosphere containing vapour. Since the oxide film which penetrates the crystal particle layer is decreased by means of such restriction of oxidation weighting, the cathode sleeve has approximately the same strength as before it was oxidized. Moreover, short oxidation time prevents the growth of crystal particles, reduces the oxide film which penetrates the crystal particle layer, decreases the thermal fatigue due to heat cycle and cathode structure having remarkably excellent characteristics can be obtained.
