Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a position measuring unit which can correct comparatively accurately the intermittent position measurement in a satellite navigation receiver, by utilizing the conventional hyperbolic navigation receiver without requiring an expensive time standard.
CONSTITUTION: The position of a moving object is measured by a hyperbolic navigation receiver, for example, loran receiver 16, and the velocity vector of the moving object is calculated by 22 on a basis of this position measurement. The bearing and the speed obtained from a gyro and a speedmeter respectively are corrected by this velocity vector, and positions of the moving object are continuously estimated in 12 on a basis of the measured position of satellite navigation receiver 11, which is obtained previously, by these corrected bearing and speed. Correction dependent upon the velocity vector is so perfomed that the position dependent upon this estimation operation may agree with the measured position dependent upon the hyperbolic navigation receiver.
