Abstract
PURPOSE:To corrrect and control the roll gaps with respect to the oil film thicknesses of respective bearings by detecting the speeds of upper and lower rolls. CONSTITUTION:The rotating speeds of the backup rolls detected by rotating speed detectors 11a, 11b are converted to the bearing oil film change quantity correcting signals corresponding to the respective speeds by correcting output transmitters 12a, 12b. These are then outputted via adding amplifier 13 to a roll gap control unit 14. The output thereof and the output of the reference signal of a roll gap setting reference signal generator 15 are respectively applied to hydraulic screw-down and push-up cylinders 5, 6 respectively. Thereby, the change components of the bearing oil film thicknesses of the upper and lower backup rolls 2a, 2b revolving at independent speeds are compensated and controlled.
