Abstract

PURPOSE: To repair the internal cracks, etc. of the pipe which has received corrosion under high efficinecy and high reliability by disposing two opposite polarity plasma arc heat sources by leaving a specified spacing, letting cleaning of the surface of the material to be repaired to be done by the former and melt repair by the latter.
CONSTITUTION: The first, second opposite polarity plasma torches 4, 5 are supported by leaving a specified spacing. A front opposite polarity plasma arc 4a in the shield atmosphere of single inert gas and its heat energy is distributed over a wide range to a material to be repaired 1, due to which contaminating deposits 3 such as the production of corrosion, tar and other are sublimated and the surface is cleaned. The second opposite polarity plasma arc 5a is in the shield atmosphere by mixed gases and the arc 5a is concentrated at a moderate density on the repair material surface, by which the cleaned surface is melted and the repaired surface 8 obtained. The uncleaned deposits 3 and their decomposition gas are also removed by the deoxidizer in the filler metal 7 which is melted at the same time.
