Abstract
PURPOSE: A specifically composed catalyst with stability and wearing resistance for long periods of time is empolyed, whereby the selectivity of the formation of title compound from tert-butanol by oxidation is largely increased, thus giving an industrially advantageous process.
CONSTITUTION: The gas-phase oxidation of tert-butyl alcohol with oxygen at high temperatures is effected in the presence of a catalyst prepared by supporting a composition given by formula I[A is at least one selected from K, Rb, and Cs; a, b, f, n, p, and q are the atomic ratio of elementary ingredients of A, Bi, Fe, Na, P, and o per atom of Mo respectively; a is 0.002W0.06; b, f, and n are dtermined by equations II, III, and IV respectively; X,Y are numbers belonging inside the tetragonal area formed by connecting four points in the cordinate, that is, (0.45, 0.35), (0.45, 0.65), (0.85, 0.50) and (0.85, 0.65), Z is 0W0.6; p is 0W0.2; q is the number of oxygen satisfying covalency of elements in the catalyst] on 30W 70 wt% of silica, thus producing title compound.
