Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the working efficiency by lowering the speed of a degasifying device, when a sample and a body having its temperature to be measured are inserted into molten metal, and by raising the speed when in the lifting operation.

In this instance, a wire rope 34 is wound on a take-up drum 46 so that the initial speed is high when in a downward operation and that the speed is lowered at the surface of the molten metal. On the other hand, when in an upward operation, the initial speed is low but is gradually acclerated.
