Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability of controlling the interface between light and heavy liquid phases in a container by regulating the surfaces of light and heavy liquids, constant, contained in light and heavy liquid reservoirs led to the outside of the container from positions above and below the controlled interface, respectively. CONSTITUTION:In a plant or the like handling a radioactive substance, a light liquid is supplied through conduit 8 at a constant flow fate while transmitting pulsation to the bottom part of pulsed extraction column 7, and a heavy liquid is discharged through conduit 9 at a constant rate. The bottom of light liquid reservoir 11 the liquid surface of which is made constant is connected to the side of column 7 at a position above the liquid surface through communicating pipe 12, and the bottom of heavy liquid reservoir 13 the liquid surface of which is the height as that of reservoir 11 and is made constant is connected to the side of column 7 at a position below the liquid surface through communicating pipe 14. As a result, the light liquid in column 7 is discharged through conduit 12 at the same flow rate as in conduit 8, and the heavy liquid in reservoir 13 is supplied through pipe 14 at the same flow rate as in conduit 9, thus holding the interface in column 7 at the same height as the liquid surfaces of reservoirs 11,13.
