Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform a good-S/N recording dependent upon an optimum bias current according to the signal frequency by using plural parallel recording heads to superposing and recording signals in order from a lower-frequency signal up to a higher-frequency signal on the same track.

CONSTITUTION: Low-band signals, which pass through LPF2, of input signals such as voice are recorded on magnetic tape 22 together with a bias current dependent upon bias oscillator 6 by head 7. Meanwhile, high-band input signals, which pass through HPF4 of delay unit 3 and has a frequency over the frequency stopped by LPF2, are recorded and reproduced by endless tape 13. These high-band input signals which were delayed by a prescribed time are superposed and recorded onto low-band signals, which are recorded on the same part of the same track of tape 22, together with the bias current of bias oscillator 18 by head 19 parallel with head 7. As a result, recording is performed by the optimum bias current, where distortion is not generated, according to bands of signal frequencies, and S/N is improved because of superposing recording, so that sound, etc., are recorded well and the reproducing characteristic is improved.
