Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain ultra fine grain powdered quick lime of high purity in a high yield by converting quick lime into milk of slaked lime and removing coarse grains by classification or other method after which the resulting slaked lime grains are surface covered with Ca salt of a fatty acid or the like, dehydrated, dried, and calcined.
CONSTITUTION: Quick lime is converted into milk of slaked lime by wet slaking, and coarse grains are removed by classification or screening. The resulting slaked lime grains are surface covered with Ca salt of a fatty acid such as capric acid or lauric acid and/or Ca salt of resin acid or calcium carbonate, dehydrated by a usual method, dried, and calcined at the decomposition temp. or above, e.g., about 900W 1,250°C. Thus, aggregation of dried slaked lime grains is prevented, and ultra fine grain powdered quick lime of high purity is obtd. This quick lime has enough fine grain size for use as a water absorbing agent for rubber.
