Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain cubic system BN regulated in particle shape and having superior strength in a high yield by using Ca3B2N4 and Li3N or Li3BN2 in combination with each other as catalyst when cubic system BN is synthesized at high temp. and pressure from hexagonal system BN as starting material.
CONSTITUTION: When cubic system BN is synthesized at high temp. and pressure from hexagonal system BN as starting material, Ca3B2N4 and Li3N or Li3BN2 are mixed so that calcium is contained by 5W80pts. to 100pts. of lithium, and the mixture is used as catalyst. This mixed catalyst is mixed with hexagonal system BN by about 10W50pts.wt. to 100pts.wt. of the BN, and by applying ≥1,350°C high temp. and ≥40kb high pressure to the mixture, cubic system BN particles having superior strength, regulated in particle shape and suitable for use as abrasives, etc. are obtd.
