Abstract

PURPOSE: To readily aligh the phase of a knockout cam in a press by separating a cam clamping serration via a threaded push rod.
CONSTITUTION: A bolt 10 is unscrewed at the cover 9 of a crankshaft. When a threaded push rod 11 screwed into the cover 9 is then screwed by a wrench into the cover 9, it allows the head 11a thereof to urge the end surface 1b of the crankshaft 1. thus, the cover 9 moves the splined portion of the crankshaft 1 together with a stationary member 4 in axial end direction to thereby separate the serration 4a of the member 4 from the serration 3b of the cam 3. When a pinion shaft 6 is then rotated, the cam 3 is rotated via the pinion and ring-like gear 5. Then, the cam 3 is aligned in phase as required by a scale board and a needle. Thereafter, the push rod 11 is turned reversely to thereby engage the serrations 4a, 3a with each other to tighten the bolt 10 for completion of the alignment.
