Abstract
PURPOSE: To control the adsorbing performance of a sulfur oxide by a method wherein semicoke as a desulfurizing adsorbent is activated by controlling the quantity of feed and gas containing oxygen and the time of steam introduced.
CONSTITUTION: Coal is carbonized by means of a dry distillation apparatus 24 and semicoke is formed, and the semicoke is sent into an activator 30. In this case, the concentration of sulfur oxide in an outlet gas flue of a desulfurizing device is measured by means of a detector 58, desulfurizing performance in an adsorbing device 10 is monitored, the flow rate of steam and gas containing oxygen sent into the activator 30 is controlled by means of a controller 40, and the semicoke is partially burnt by the steam and the gas containing oxygen, and activated. Thus, even when the kinds of the coal as raw material is varied, the adsorption capacity of the semicoke for the sulfur oxide is kept at a fixed level at all times.
