PURPOSE:To enable the stacking of packing elements and improve the efficiency of contact by a method wherein the packing elements for mutually contacting fluids are formed in such a manner that vertical projecting portions with the same length are fitted on the vertexes of the upper and lower parallel surfaces of polygonal truncated pyramid. CONSTITUTION:The packing elements of a packed power used for distillation, reaction, etc. are formed to ensure that projecting portions 6, which are vertically fitted to the flat upper surfaces 1 and lower surface 2 of polygonal truncated pyramid, whose ridgelines are connected by frames 3-5, and have the same length, are fitted in the direction to the upper surface 1, which is smaller, from the lower surface 2. When the projecting portions 6 are formed, the packing elements can be stacked, and the contact efficiency is improved and the generation of short path, channelling, etc. is prevented when fluids are contacted therewith.
