Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an ascending current type filtration tower with excellent efficiency and enable to wash a granular filter medium easily by a method wherein a device for washing and recirculating the granular filter medium is mounted to the filration tower in which the filter medium is pressed upwardly by an ascending current of water to be filtered.
CONSTITUTION: Water to be filtered is filtered in such a manner that the water is flowed in from an inflow pipe 6, and a filter medium 3 is pressed to an upper screen 4 in the filtration tower by an ascending current. When filtering pressure rises after a fixed time, valves 21, 23 are opened, and the filter medium is transferred to a hopper 2 from a discharging pipe 20 by introducing water from a valve 23. A suspensoid is removed from the filter medium by violent agitation in an ejector 22 at that time, and muddy water is discharged from a washing water discharging pipe. The filter medium is supplied by opening a filter medium supply valve 18 when an inlet valve 7 is closed, water is rapidly discharged from a liquid vent valve 9 and a filter medium layer A is moved downwards.
