Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a low cost and compact starter by a method wherein starting rheostats are short-circuited in order in accordance with a voltage which is proportional to a starting current generated between arbitrary terminals of a starting rheostat. CONSTITUTION:When an electric motor IM starts, a current i flows on the secondary side of the electric motor IM to generate a voltage Ei corresponding to i between arbitrary terminals of a starting rheostat R4. When the electric motor IM is accelerated, the current i decreases to lower the voltage Ei, and accordingly relays PR1-PR4 are released in order. Then, contacts MC1-MC4 for starting resistance short-circuits are driven by the b contact through delay relays TR1-TR4, and starting resistances R1-R4 are short-circuited in order. This constitution can dispense with a current transformer for current detection and with the connection of a starter to a primary circuit of the motor.
