Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform a highly precise measurement of the quantity of scour of river bed, etc. by a method wherein an ultrasonic wave send/receive device is installed in a long pile-type body, and ultrasonic wave transmission and its receival are conducted through a small window installed on the pile body.
CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic wave send/receive device 12 is fixed in a hollow pile- type body 8, which is laid near a pier at a level deeper than the base portion, and a small window is installed on the lower side wall of the pile body 8. Then, the pile body 8 is hit into the depth where the scour limit line 13 meets the river bed 6 at scouring. When scour does not reach to the river bed 6, ultrasonic wave 17 from the send/receive device 12 transmits through the window 15 to the outside, is reflected by the soil 16, and is again received by the device 12. When this time difference is compared with that when the scour proceeds, the latter is larger. As a result, the time difference between send and receive can provides means to measure the quantity of scour.
